The Availability board
One board across your trip types, showing exactly which days you can actually take — the same read your public booking page uses.
The Availability board answers one question at a glance: for any trip type and any day, can you actually take an angler? It reads the same supply signals — season coverage, boat capacity, guide load, request-only settings — that gate your public booking page, so what you see here is what an angler sees when they try to book.
The four states
- Instant-bookable — every signal is positive. An angler can book and pay a deposit on the spot.
- Request only — bookable, but as an inquiry rather than an instant confirmation (request-only settings, or thin signal).
- Taken — the day is sold out on capacity, or the guide who would run it is already committed.
- Not offered — no active season covers that day for that trip type.
When signals are missing or ambiguous, the board is deliberately conservative — it degrades toward Request only rather than showing Instant-bookable. It can undersell a day it isn't sure about; it will never oversell one.
A row per trip type and half of the day
A half-day trip type gets two rows, AM and PM, each painted from its own read. That's deliberate: a booked morning and an open afternoon are different answers, and merging them would show one of them wrongly. Full-day and multi-day trip types get a single row.
What else is on the board
- A per-day count badge on each cell — how many bookings already sit on that day. It's a second axis, and never changes a cell's colour.
- A bookings-in-view panel below the board, listing the active bookings in your current window grouped by angling party.
The board shows up to 5 trip types at once and spans up to 6 months. If you run more, switch between views rather than trying to see all of them together — and the board always tells you when it has truncated something rather than quietly showing you a short list.
Why the public page never oversells
Your public booking page disables exactly the days the booking gate would refuse — and the same check runs again, a second time, the instant someone submits with an instant deposit. An angler can't complete a deposit on a day that turns out to be unstaffed; the charge never happens.
